When Spiritual Power is Used for Worldly Purposes

Narek Malian's "Point Zero" is about a civilizational catastrophe

Counselor to the RA Chief of Police Narek Malian has already published his second book, it is called "Point Zero". Although the "official" presentation has not yet taken place, the book has aroused serious interest, as the topic is universal.

In a conversation with "Aravot", the author opened some "brackets" about some zero points hidden in the content of the book, which unite around the main zero point. Narek Malian notes that, unfortunately, there are points after which civilization has irreversibly changed for the worse throughout history, and their outcomes emerge after 1000, and more specifically, after 920 years. People who tried to use their spiritual power for worldly purposes hundreds of years ago probably did not even think that centuries later their experience would be the basis of suicide bombing, which in the 21st century is considered a civilizational catastrophe, a tumor. And the message of the book is that true faith is love, because God is love, and in many cases ritual conventions have departed from their original purpose, knowing God, communicating with God, departing, and becoming worldly. As in the first book, "PR of Sodom", so in "Point Zero" there is a lot of room for public manipulation. Moreover, if in the first book they were manipulations of the modern world, where there were modern tools - television, internet, etc., then in this case we are talking about an older toolkit, that is, two PR campaigns created and implemented in the 11th century", states Narek Malian.

We wondered why in the present century of terrorism, bloodshed and wars, the episode of the Paris terrorist attack was emphasized in the book. "The point is that the book was born in the context of the Paris terrorist attacks. Personally, I took the occurrence very seriously, I am sure most of our compatriots did, too. Major terrorist attacks have never been so close to us, Armenians, as during the Paris events. When I began to explore the roots of the Paris events, I was surprised to find that exactly 920 years ago, in November, Pope Urban began a spiritual war in Notre Dame, a "sacred war" that had undergone many transformations over the centuries to return to the center of Paris eventually. The book begins with a liturgy in 1095 and ends with a liturgy in 2015. It is just a fine line between the modern world and medieval religious fanaticism, and the parallel is not in favor of Christians at all. In many cases, Catholics have not been less cruel in their religious fanaticism than Muslim fundamentalists. Moreover, the Christian "sacred" war is about 100 years older than the Muslim jihad. "As a result of my research I discovered another interesting thing: the victims of the first jihad were the Armenians of Edesia, who were massacred for being Christians," the author of the book states that after the terrorist attack in Paris, he tried to put the image he had in mind on paper without pathos, so that people would look at it from a different angle. "Pope Urban raised his head and looking at the colorful patterns on the church ceiling, shouted: "Now is the time to protect our brothers and sisters." It is time for just retribution, it is time for God to establish justice in the Holy Land and around the world. Take your arms up, my beloved flock of believers!

"Dieu le veut (God willing)," shouted the crowd in response. The sound of the crowd spread in waves. People were upset, angry. "They agreed with Urban II that it was no longer possible to tolerate such treatment towards Christians." – this is how the Christian “sacred war” began in “Point Zero”. The book ends with "Dieu le veut ".

"Ali was crying out loud on his knees on a stone marking the center of Paris, in front of Notre Dame Cathedral. That stone was the only thing that reminded him of his great and unrequited love. Ali was crying, looking at the sky, as if asking for help from Allah. Certainly, if Ali had done the same thing on a normal day, he would have caught the attention of passers-by, people would have approached him and wondered what had happened to the young man, but today Paris did not have time to focus on one man's misfortune. Paris was mourning on its knees today. Crowds of devout Christians gathered in the courtyard of Notre Dame. People came to church trying to find solace here, to find answers to their questions that had disturbed them for centuries. Inside the temple, the bishop was serving a liturgy. The liturgy was dedicated to the memory of the innocent victims of terrorism. In his gold garment, the bishop was walking on the stage of the tabernacle and saying prayers of blessing in Latin. "Dieu le veut," the believers murmured in response to the bishop's prayers, "Dieu le veut …." It should be added that Narek Malian's "Point Zero" has already left for London, and has also participated in the Frankfurt International Book Fair, 5 foreign publishers are interested in it.
